The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, Structural Tension Rods

May 29, 2013

Ronstan Tensile Architecture was specifically selected to provide the exposed tension rods for the Glass Roof Support on the new dining area above the Perelman Theater at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia. The fine machined and architectural look of the fork clevis and locking collars made the choice easy for the Architects and Engineers involved in the projects. The project was to replace the park setting located on the top of the Perelman Theater with a glass enclosed dining area. The Ronstan rods serve as the lower tension members on the exposed trusses supporting the glass ceiling above the dining area. This allows for an open view of the glass arched roof above the entire Kimmel Center. Daytime or Nighttime the views are amazing.
